About Nikhil’s Ananda Incense
We have been impressed with the offerings from Nikhil. Sometimes it’s known as Ananda Happiness as its label indicates. We sampled Nikhil’s Ananda and knew right away that we needed to have this item. Nikhil’s Ananda is a lightly sweetened sandalwood, fortified with sandalwood oil. It compares well to incenses considerably more expensive, even more than double the cost per unit weight. It’s extraordinarily cooling and calming. It’s leathery, rich, and has a noticeable, slightly green note like fresh dill. There is also a distant, clean, dry floral that reminds us of African violet. Nikhil’s Ananda is certainly in the list of things that we use frequently in the shop, and we believe it is one of the contributing incenses in the fragrance of the store its self.

About Sacred Elements Juniper & White Sage Incense
We so far have been impressed with the offerings from Sacred Elements, so it seemed natural to try Sacred Elements Juniper & White Sage, with such a promising title. It’s not every day that we are willing to break out the sage and smudge the place, but it’s fairly frequent that we want or need to. This was one of the inspirations for us to carry Sacred Elements Juniper & White Sage. We will at times add juniper to our white sage at home, so to find an incense already compounded with juniper only sweetened the deal. It’s not an over-the-top sage and juniper. It’s considerably more subtle than that. The core of the incense is that of a semi-sweet amber with champa-like qualities. This alone is enough to offer such an incense. With it’s already excellent base, there is the addition of earthy, cleansing white sage and the bright, balsamic element of juniper. We weren’t in a big hurry to add another incense to our list, but after sampling Sacred Elements Juniper & White Sage, we felt that it was a natural addition to the library of fragrances that we offer.

Satya 60’s Patchouli Incense
What’s that…another patchouli in the Satya line? Yes, it is, but relax, they’re all so different. Satya 60’s Patchouli is of them all the driest, that is to say the least sweet. That doesn’t mean it’s bitter or smokey, it’s just not that sweet. It has a clean, dry amber core that it’s self has a calming, cooling effect. To this, earthy, spicy patchouli has been added. It has for lack of a better word, an older fragrance that makes one think of antique or curio shops. Satya 60’s Patchouli has developed quite a following. It’s not unusual for one purchase to be a dozen or more packs. It’s too bad it doesn’t come in larger packs. We could certainly use them.

About Forest Deep Incense
Every so often, an incense comes along that shows someone willing to take chances and succeeding. Forest Deep is one of those interesting trips in incense land. Strangely dubbed “Pure Sandalwood” in some places, it’s far from being just a sandalwood. Forest Deep is far more interesting than just being a sandalwood incense. It does contain sandalwood, excellent sandalwood at that, but it’s just the beginning. Forest Deep is a complex, deep, slightly sweet, earthy adventure, cooling, a bit mossy, and profoundly relaxing. It’s one of very few incenses that we found to blend well with other incenses, particularly florals. It’s a rabbit hole that runs deep, and we keep discovering new elements to this fragrance now and again. If you’re looking for something unconventional but highly pleasing, Forest Deep is a good choice.

About Superb Sandal Incense
We probably have dozens of sandalwood incenses, how do we choose which one to write about? It’s not just a random decision, we chose Superb Sandal because it’s one of our favorites, and we hope it can become on of yours as well. It’s made by Haridus Madhavdas, the makers of Amethyst, Egyptian, and Green Patchouli, so Superb Sandal will be buttery with elements of toffee, basmati rice, and vanilla. To this medium sweet core, there is the addition of high grade sandalwood. It’s unlike most sandalwood incenses in that it is considerably sweeter and less smokey than them. It’s truly a glorious selection. It is a sweeter sister of Precious Sandal, which is also made by Haridus Madhavdas. Both are worth a go.

About Mysore Sugandhi Chandan Dhoop
The title alone is quite a mouthful, but once broken down, it’s not so bad. Mysore is a city in southern India, so that’s easy. Sugandhi refers to something fragrant and delightful. Chandan refers to sandalwood. Dhoop are incenses that do not have a bamboo core. Now that the nuts and bolts of the title have been deciphered, just what is Mysore Sugandhi Chandan Dhoop? It consists of little logs of sandalwood incense. It’s clean, dry, simply high grade sandalwood that’s in log form in stead of stick form. They are usable much like cones. If you’re into sandalwood, this one needs to be tried.

About Satya Dragon’s Eye Incense
We haven’t found fault in the entire Satya line, but we were not in any hurry to add another one so quickly. We received some samples in a parcel and one of them was Satya Dragon’s Eye. We changed our tune quickly and knew we needed to add this selection to our library of incenses. Like most Satya incenses, it has that semi-sweet amber, vanilla base, but that’s just where the fun begins. We best describe Satya Dragon’s Eye as an emerald green fragrance. It has bright elements of lime, ginger, frankincense, and a note that is similar to white pepper. It seems to have a refreshing quality for the mind.

About Satya Patchouli Forest Incense
We don’t keep it a secret that we are in the camp of patchouli lovers. We are aware that patchouli can be somewhat polarizing. Those that tend to dislike it describe it as smelling like dirt, dirty unwashed bodies, swampy, etc. Those that do like it describe a sweetish, earthy, spicy quality. How can we bridge this gap so that everyone can enjoy? Satya Patchouli Forest does just that. Like most Satya incenses, it has a semi-sweet, amber, vanilla base, but Satya Patchouli Forest is a bit sweeter than the average Satya and it has a very carefully measured, earthy component of dark Indonesian patchouli. It’s such a light element that even those who tend to dislike patchouli can still appreciate this selection. Of Satya’s patchouli incenses, this is certainly the sweetest offering. For something drier, Satya Patchouli would be a thought, or drier still, Satya 60’s Patchouli would be the way to go. As they get drier in fragrance, the more noticeable the patchouli becomes. Satya Patchouli Forest offers a perfectly balanced fragrance that is sweet enough for even those who are not fans of patchouli, but for those that do love patchouli, it’s heavenly.

About Satya Natural Incense
Having we have been carrying incenses since 1988, we tend to take certain incenses for granted. One such selection is Satya Natural. This is an incense we have had since the early 90s and it’s one such example of an item that we do take for granted. We unfairly assume everyone has tried it at some time, but that’s grossly unfair. There are so many selections available that it’s easy to simply not get around to trying it. In its core, it is a classic Satya incense. That means it has a semi-sweet, amber, vanilla base upon which to build. Satya Natural sets its self apart with having toothsome elements of chocolate, white chocolate, and hot cappuccino. It was the very first incense to give the classic Nag Champa s good run for its money. That was back when it was simply called “Satya” and had purple ends on the sticks. Now it has yellow ends, the packaging has changed, and is known as Satya Natural, but thank heavens, it has remained unchanged since it was first released in the 90s. It has a way of transforming any place you’re dwelling into home.
