Morning Star Rose Incense is a beautiful marriage of the classic, dry, light, cooling Japanese type sandalwood and the ever so slight element of rose petals. If you’re looking for a very light, barely-there type of rose, you have found it. Sometimes floral incenses, particularly rose can be overbearing. With Morning Star Rose Incense, that is certainly not the case. This is undoubtedly the lightest rose incense we have found. Each pack comes with a little tile to set the sticks into, but we still recommend putting it on a fireproof surface.

Morning Star Sandalwood incense has been around for so very long and has remained unchanged. It’s a classic example of a Japanese sandalwood incense. It’s very light, dry, clean and cooling. It is an incense that can be appreciated even in small rooms as it doesn’t give off much smoke and the fragrance its self is so light, gentle, and non-perfumey. It can even be enjoyed by those who are especially sensitive to perfumes, those who get that headache when exposed to heavy fragrances. Morning Star Sandalwood carries its self with dignity and sophistication. A small tile designed for burning this incense, but to be safer, it’s best to set it on a fireproof surface.

About Nikhil’s Ananda Incense
We have been impressed with the offerings from Nikhil. Sometimes it’s known as Ananda Happiness as its label indicates. We sampled Nikhil’s Ananda and knew right away that we needed to have this item. Nikhil’s Ananda is a lightly sweetened sandalwood, fortified with sandalwood oil. It compares well to incenses considerably more expensive, even more than double the cost per unit weight. It’s extraordinarily cooling and calming. It’s leathery, rich, and has a noticeable, slightly green note like fresh dill. There is also a distant, clean, dry floral that reminds us of African violet. Nikhil’s Ananda is certainly in the list of things that we use frequently in the shop, and we believe it is one of the contributing incenses in the fragrance of the store its self.

About Superb Sandal Incense
We probably have dozens of sandalwood incenses, how do we choose which one to write about? It’s not just a random decision, we chose Superb Sandal because it’s one of our favorites, and we hope it can become on of yours as well. It’s made by Haridus Madhavdas, the makers of Amethyst, Egyptian, and Green Patchouli, so Superb Sandal will be buttery with elements of toffee, basmati rice, and vanilla. To this medium sweet core, there is the addition of high grade sandalwood. It’s unlike most sandalwood incenses in that it is considerably sweeter and less smokey than them. It’s truly a glorious selection. It is a sweeter sister of Precious Sandal, which is also made by Haridus Madhavdas. Both are worth a go.

About Mysore Sugandhi Chandan Dhoop
The title alone is quite a mouthful, but once broken down, it’s not so bad. Mysore is a city in southern India, so that’s easy. Sugandhi refers to something fragrant and delightful. Chandan refers to sandalwood. Dhoop are incenses that do not have a bamboo core. Now that the nuts and bolts of the title have been deciphered, just what is Mysore Sugandhi Chandan Dhoop? It consists of little logs of sandalwood incense. It’s clean, dry, simply high grade sandalwood that’s in log form in stead of stick form. They are usable much like cones. If you’re into sandalwood, this one needs to be tried.

About Balaji Chandan
Chandan is fancy talk for sandalwood. There are likely thousands of different sandalwood incenses. We ourselves probably have a few dozen, each so very different from the next. One of our very favorites is Balaji Chandan. We weren’t surprised as the entire Balaji line is so wonderful. It’s a fairly potent sandalwood fortified with sandalwood oil. This offers a considerably richer, more complex profile to the fragrance. Its quality more accurately matches incenses that cost nearly double, but that’s a secret we all can keep. When we sampled it, we expected it to be considerably more costly given its depth, but who are we to argue when the price is right? It’s an absolute must-have for not just sandalwood enthusiasts, but for anyone who enjoys quality incenses.

Hari Darshan Copal + Sandalo
One of the perks of what we do is that we get to try out all kinds of new incenses. Sometimes it’s not much of a thrill, but now and again, something comes up that wows us. Hari Darshan Copal + Sandalo Incense is one of those items that we checked out and went gaga over. Its depth, richness, and complexity is that of incenses that can easily cost three times as much. It has the qualities of some of the higher end resin based stick incenses and more. It’s not just dry resin and sandalwood. It has amber elements that sweeten the deal and really permit this incense to feature piney, clean copal and cooling, meditative sandalwood. The sweeter element provides a perfect backdrop for the resinous notes and sandalwood. We have a few others in the Hari Darshan line and we’ll eventually have them all. They’re that good.
