{"id":440,"date":"2016-07-11T09:35:50","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T13:35:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.woodstocktradeco.com\/Blog\/?p=440"},"modified":"2016-07-11T09:35:50","modified_gmt":"2016-07-11T13:35:50","slug":"wes-wilson-father-of-psychedelic-font","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.woodstocktradeco.com\/Blog\/wes-wilson-father-of-psychedelic-font\/","title":{"rendered":"WES WILSON FATHER OF PSYCHEDELIC FONT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-441 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.woodstocktradeco.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/wes-wilson-fillmodre-jan-1967-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"wes wilson fillmodre jan 1967\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In psychedelic art Wes Wilson\u2019s art helped to define the psychedelic style that defined the era of the 60\u2019s and 70\u2019s.\u00a0 In fact he is generally acknowledged as the father of the 60\u2019s rock concert poster.\u00a0 His poster feature \u00a0his admiration and respect for the feminine form and are considered to be an enduring representation of the entire period.<\/p>\n<p>It is about the recognizable balloon shaped writing with complimentary colors right next to each other in very exciting ways.\u00a0 He wanted a poster that people liked to look at.\u00a0 He wanted to use up all the space on the poster.\u00a0 His art was based on a combination of a whole bunch of things and all based on his idealism that things are going to get better.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson\u2019s idealism had him doing posters and fundraising for the \u201cAppeal\u201dand \u00a0the Merry Prankster Acid Tests \u00a0were dance hall concerts to benefit\u00a0 anti involvement in the Vietnam War.\u00a0 He was also doing posters for, the Family Dog, Fillmore Auditorium.\u00a0 In May of 1967 he had a dispute with Bill Graham over money and Wilson no longer did posters for Graham.\u00a0 \u00a0However, he continued to produce posters the Avalon and other venues.<\/p>\n<p>Seth and I have had the good fortune of meeting Wes and have a few of his postcards available for our customers.
